EU Orders (VAT & Customs)

For customers in the European Union, VAT is collected at checkout through the Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS) scheme on eligible orders with an intrinsic value of €150 or less.

From 1 July 2026, the EU also applies a separate temporary customs duty of €3 for each distinct customs tariff category represented in a low-value parcel. This charge is separate from VAT and may be collected from the recipient by the carrier or local customs. A parcel containing different types of goods may attract more than one €3 charge.

For orders over €150, standard customs procedures apply and local VAT, customs duties or handling fees may be charged. All orders are shipped from the United Kingdom.

Heavy Duty Oblong Punch / Crew Punch

Hand-forged carbon-steel punches for making clean oblong slots in leather belts, straps and fittings. The polished barrel and tapered clearance help the cut leather release cleanly.

Which size do I need? — Project & hardware guide

Measurements below are starting points. Always measure your actual buckle prong and test on scrap before cutting your project piece.

Punch size (length) Typical project Typical buckle-prong length Leather thickness range Punch shape note Check before ordering
12.5 mm (1/2") Watch straps, fine cuffs, small bag straps ~10–12 mm prong 1–2 mm (light veg-tan, soft leathers) Oblong — neat slot, cleaner look than round punch Measure prong length; slot must be ≥ prong length + ~1 mm clearance
16 mm (5/8") Narrow belts, camera straps, dog collars (small) ~13–15 mm prong 2–3 mm (medium veg-tan) Oblong — suits narrower buckles where a round hole would look oversized Check buckle bar width matches strap width; confirm prong length on buckle
19 mm (3/4") Medium belts, bridle straps, bag handles ~16–18 mm prong 2–4 mm (veg-tan, bridle) Oblong — standard choice for 25–32 mm wide belts Most common everyday-belt size; verify against your specific buckle
26 mm (1") Wide belts (38–45 mm), luggage straps ~22–25 mm prong 3–5 mm (heavy veg-tan, skirting) Oblong — longer slot allows prong movement on thick leather Confirm leather is supple enough for prong to flex into slot at this thickness
28 mm (1-1/8") Heavy belts, tack straps, harness work ~24–27 mm prong 3–6 mm (skirting, harness) Oblong — preferred for harness/tack where slot must resist tearing Heavy leathers may need a mallet with more force; use solid Poundo board
32 mm (1-1/4") Wide harness straps, horse tack, heavy bag straps ~28–31 mm prong 4–7 mm (heavy harness, double-layer) Oblong — larger slot reduces tear-out risk on thick, stiff leather Test punch depth on scrap; very thick leather may need repeat strikes
38 mm (1-1/2") Extra-wide belts, trunk straps, heavy harness ~33–37 mm prong 4–8 mm (skirting, double-shoulder) Oblong — largest in range; suits substantial hardware on equestrian/trade work Confirm buckle prong length matches; very few consumer buckles use this size

Rotary vs oblong: This is an oblong (crew) punch — it cuts a rectangular slot with rounded ends, which is the correct profile for most belt buckle prongs and gives a cleaner, more professional finish than a round hole on strap work.

Care and use

Use on a suitable Poundo board or other purpose-made punching surface to protect the cutting edge. This is a sharp, heavy-duty tool; follow normal workshop safety precautions.
